Found this near by my house,
109 ex-MOD
It's not running and I'm guessing it will need a frame up restore which probably means it will need a new frame and the bulkhead is probably also shot. The guy wants $3300 for it.
Now here is my conundrum:
If I buy it it will probably have to sit for a couple of years before I'll have the time to get it up and running, but prices of these trucks are only going up so maybe in 2 years a basket case will be double.
I really want a IIa as they're my favorite Series Landys (love the recessed grill) but III's come with Salisbury axles standard and it would be super easy for me to put a pickup cab on this (in the summer I can throw the canvas on it and have a drop top pickup awesome right?) and I'll have a pick up to use for house projects. However if I get a 5 door 109 it can be a awesome family hauler, how cool would it be to take the whole family to the beach?
Now I haven't contacted the seller because I want to offer him $2000 for shits and giggles but I'm worried he'll say yes.
Maybe I sit and think on it for another two months, and then see where I am.
What does oppo think?
Edit: Update people, I've decided I'll let it sit for a couple of months then lowball the seller. I think it might just work.

Just rip those bloody seats out. I've got a spare set of vinyl seats if you want them? It's not a Series unless your tailbone is imprinted on the seat box.

Lol, maybe if I buy it I'll hit you up.

Looks rough. I would only offer $500 tops.. assuming I wanted a never-ending project.

You're right about values for them especially in this country. If you have the room, you'll at least make a couple bucks just by hanging on to it if you find something better later.

Not my first frame up on one of these things, probably take me about a year to get it on the road.

Those are good engines, but a trouble free Land Rover seems unnatural to me. Although maybe a 4BT?

Buy it. Market and sell it to someone in the states as a defender. Quadruple your money. Murican's can't tell the difference.
Seriously though, I wouldn't spend that much on it. Although, it is cool and the work it needs is simple enough...

Yeah I think I'm going to let it sit for a couple of months and then low ball the seller. If he doesn't take it then oh well.

Bring 1K cash and show him. He'll take it. You (probably) wont regret it.
